Our Story
A journey tied to the making of modern Bangladeshi industry.
The organization began through an engineering and construction enterprise. From that foundation, founder Mr. A. M. Musa explored indenting, clearing and forwarding, food preservation, brick manufacturing and export-oriented apparel production.
In 1975, Mr. Musa imported 35 Brother sewing machines from Japan and installed them at his residence in Dhanmondi — reported to be among the first automatic electric sewing machines introduced for garment production in Bangladesh. He assembled and trained a group of local tailors, creating the technical foundation of Bond Garments Ltd.
Bond Garments Ltd. was established in 1976, at a time when export-oriented garment manufacturing outside Chattogram was considered highly ambitious. Its Mirpur operation helped demonstrate the potential for large-scale manufacturing in and around Dhaka.
In the 1984–85 fiscal year the company achieved a leading position in apparel export earnings and received the Presidential Export Award. From these pioneering beginnings the Bond name developed into a diversified corporate platform.
Founder's Legacy
Mr. A. M. Musa
Recognized as one of the early pioneers of Bangladesh's ready-made garment industry. He shared practical knowledge of factory establishment, production, quality control, marketing and export procedures with roughly 200 emerging entrepreneurs, and contributed to industry discussions on back-to-back letters of credit, bonded warehouse facilities and export incentives.
His involvement in the formative stages of BGMEA reflected a commitment to the collective development of the industry. That philosophy — entering new industries with courage, transferring knowledge and creating opportunities for others — remains the foundation of the Bond identity.
